Beauty on a Budget| DIY Coffee Body Scrub

I am one for affordable beauty remedies, one such remedy that I love and have been incorporating in my beauty regime is a coffee scrub. Research has shown that the caffeine in coffee is excellent on the skin but only when applied topically in the form of said scrub or in a cream. Coffee has great exfoliating properties both mechanically and chemically and will result in smooth, soft radiant skin  and its been known to reduce the appearance of  cellulite on the skin.

INGREDIENTS

1. Ground Coffee
2. Brown sugar
3. Extra Virgin Olive Oil
4. Jojoba oil ( Optional)
Simply mix the ingredients in a small bowl  and  Voilà you're done

The brown sugar has glycolic acid so it is also going to act as a chemical exfoliant as well, this coupled with  the moisturizing properties of the olive oil and jojoba oil makes for one inexpensive effective scrub as it does leave my skin soft and supple not too sure about the cellulite reducing properties but I will continue to use it nevertheless.

The next time you are about to discard your coffee dregs consider using it to make a scrub

Style Crush- Jennifer Lopez

Jennifer Lopez was in mind when the term "age like fine wine" was coined, from her skin to her impeccably toned legs this woman has defied the  aging process in its entirety. J Lo at age 45 shows no signs off extinguishing her hotness especially in the fashion department, she is  always immaculately dressed and in her chameleon like ways she can pull off  a demure look or a  sizzling sexy number very well as you can see from the collage above.

Are you a fan of J Lo's fashion?

Review -LA Girl Glazed Lip Paint

LA Girl Cosmetics has just been exceeding everyone's expectation in terms of providing quality products at an affordable price. My love for the brand was solidified with my discovery of the LA Pro HD Concealer in the latter part  2012 and now I found LA Girl Glazed Lip Paint.

 Top-Coy, Bottom-Hot Mess

Product Features:The LA Girl Glaze Lip Paint packaging promises super, intense pigmentation of a lipstick with the finish and ease of  application of a lip gloss.

Overall Experience: I am happy to report that I do love everything about these lip paints and they remind of an affordable version of the OCC liptars. In terms of pigmentation they are highly pigmented and extremely opaque, they are not sticky and literally glides on effortlessly on the lips with a cooling senstation due to the peppermint oil infused in the formula. The colour selection is amazing as there are over 18 shades now available so you should  find a shade to your liking. My only real issue with the lip paints is the availability (in Jamaica that is).I purchased my tubes in a beauty supply store overseas for US$1.99 excluding taxes, however in Jamaica when I attempted to locate them I only saw one wholesale in Downtown Kingston carrying them for  JMD 400 a tube, which is rather inconvenient if you ask me.Overall I highly recommend these lip paints especially for the budding makeup artist as they are affordable, highly effective and the colour range is extensive.

Have you tried my any of the LA Girl Glazed Lip Paints?

Happy Wednesday Guys,

School/Workplace Appropriate Makeup

Hi Everyone,

Its been quite a while since I last updated this space which was due to circumstances beyond my control. Today I would like to talk to you about something that is truly an addiction/passion of mine...makeup. I am going to share with you a look that's quite fitting for the typical college girl or the working woman who wants to look put together but not excessively overdone, please bear in mind that flawless makeup requires patience and also utilizing the right tools , my favourite tools to use to ensure that my foundation looks like skin are the beauty blender, the Real Techniques line of brushes and my favourite finishing spray. This look is very "natural" and  minimalistic  which is quite ironic because numerous products were used to achieve it nevertheless I am very pleased with the outcome...

Cheap Thrills| Wet N Wild Megalast Lipsticks

On a much needed trip to a drugstore while on vacation I had the opportunity of obtaining some lip products that were on my wish list but not available here in Jamaica. The lip products in question are the Wet N Wild Megalast lipsticks which I'm sure my American readers will describe as old news but my Jamaican makeup enthusiasts would greatly appreciate having a tube or four...

The colours I selected are very subdued, light and prefect for spring and would look great on deep skintones once paired with a brown lip liner. In my opinion these lipsticks are quite comparable to MAC lippies in terms of overall quality but at a fraction of the cost.

Left to Right: Just Peachy,Bare it All,Think Pink,Mauve Outta Here

My favourite shade is Bare it All, what is your favourite Wet N wild lipstick shade?

Up to Di Time | Born Pretty Store Review

Some time ago I was contacted by a representative from Born Pretty Store to review a product from their website.Born Pretty Store is an online store which sells a plethora of affordable  products ranging from makeup, nail art, clothing and jewellery just to name a few.I was invited to review a women’s watch and let me just say that it was very difficult as there were many styles of   wrist watchesbracelet watches, and LED watches to choose from, however I decided to select a timeless piece ( no pun intended ).

The style I selected was a classic black and gold watch  with rhinestone detailing which would perfect for any occasion and it was a pleasant surprise to see that it came in a gift box (as seen above).

Overall I would have to say that the  experience was excellent from the costumer service to shipping,as my order was quickly processed as soon as I selected the style and relayed the information to the representative. My package also arrived sooner than expected considering it was  coming all the way from Asia which is fantastic in my opinion .If you are interested in purchasing  this watch and/or any other product from Born Pretty Store you can utilize my  coupon code "ROXANNASC10"  for 10% off your order.

ELF Contouring Blush and Bronzing Powder

I have mentioned that highlighting and contouring is my favourite area when it comes on to makeup artistry. There are times however  when  I just don't want to go through the extra steps to get the sculpted look but I don't want my makeup to look one dimensional either, so to add a bit of definition to my face I have been reaching for the ELF Contouring Blush and Bronzing Powder in Turks and Caicos.

Product Features: This blush and bronzer duo contains just that a blush which highlights the cheeks and a bronzer which promises to "accentuate and  contour the cheekbones".

Overall Experience:This US$3 duo was purchased solely for the bronzer component as I feel that the blush portion wouldn't necessarily show up on my skintone and after using it several times I have to say that the bronzer is a good product. The bronzer in this ELF duo is shimmery in the pan and being a matte bronzer lover I was a bit skeptical initially, however I am happy to report that once the bronzer is applied to cheeks and sufficiently blended into the skin with my Real Techniques Contour Brush  the shimmery attributes significantly diminish and you are left with a defined face. The other key points to mention are that the bronzer is not chalky and difficult to blend, instead it is smooth, blends into the skin like a dream and looks very natural looking which makes it perfect for everyday use.
In conclusion I like this product and recommend it to any WOC who is looking into finding an affordable contouring product that offers a defined yet natural looking finish.

What is your go to product for a natural contour?

Black White & Red | The VDAY Edition

Friday is Valentine's Day and whether you have a special person to share it with or not here is an outfit idea that I conjured up that incorporates the traditional colour scheme, but with an edgy twist. Flattering monochromatic hues  coupled with a mixture of stripes and the cow print pattern makes for one interesting ensemble.

Downsizing and Organizing with The Z Palette

Like many make up lovers I have accumulated quite a bit  and so for 2014 I wanted to  streamline my make up storage and get rid of the excessive clutter, with that said I invested in the Large Z palette to aid with my make up storage. This  is a magnetic palette with several metal stickers used to store your depotted make up products.

My love  for this palette  runs deep and I cannot fathom how I was existing without this lifesaver. My reason for saying  this is due to the fact  that it has significantly improved the overall appearance and accessibility of some of my mostly used products and it makes travelling especially for freelance work a breeze, no wonder this is a  must have for  make up junkies and  make up artists alike. The only real concern I have is that the material may not hold up to continuous cleaning/sanitizing. Overall I am very satisfied with my purchase and this is definitely a product I would recommend to my fellow make up addicts.

Do you own a Z Palette if not do you plan on purchasing?

Hooked on Heroine..the Lipstick that is

I know I've mentioned that I have a slight obsession with lipsticks and especially the sought after Heroine from MAC.This lipstick was initially a limited edition, however to due to excessive pleading  from  the MAC lipstick lovers around the world it was released as apart of their  permanent offering. When I discovered it was currently being offered I had to add it to my small collection as although I love Covergirl Divine lipstick  ( heroine's closest dupe) there is just nothing like the real thing...

Photographed in artificial lighting-WITH FLASH

Photographed in natural lighting-WITHOUT FLASH

MAC's Heroine is a matte, vibrant shade of purple that wears comfortably on the lips and doesn't dehydrate your lips unlike some of its matte counterparts, the only downside of this lipstick is that its stains your lips and requires some amount of effort to remove, nevertheless I don't regret purchasing this lip product.
