In Living Colour

A neutral eye is  my security blanket when it comes on to makeup, but occasionally a girl needs a bit of colour. Today's makeup look is about vibrant colours which are complimentary to dark brown eyes and also perfect for the upcoming summer season....

Labour Day Outfit Inspiration

Untitled #9

May 23 is Labour Day, which is a public holiday here in Jamaica.A public holiday is always the best time to go out and catch up with your girlfriends over drinks or go see a movie....preferably Fast & Furious 6. The above outfit would be quite suitable for either occasion as it is casual yet polished.

The 411 on MAC's RiRi Woo

Most makeup mavens may know that Rihanna has a collaboration with MAC Cosmetics. The first product released was a retro matte red lipstick called RiRi Woo which in my opinion is a  more user friendly version of the cult favourite  Ruby Woo...

In terms of similarities both lipsticks are equally long lasting ,vibrant and universally flattering, however  RiRi Woo is a tad bit deeper with a slight blue undertone than Ruby Woo, another difference is that Ruby Woo is harder to apply whereas RiRi Woo glides on effortlessly and is more moisturizing on the lips.

Overall RiRi Woo is a gorgeous red lipstick  to own, but if you have Ruby Woo you can definitely skip on RiRi Woo as they are almost identical the only major difference is RiRi Woo wears more comfortably  on the lips however if you  are a red lipstick fiend and/or Rihanna fan then this lipstick is worth having.

Did you get Riri Woo when it was released earlier this month if not do you plan on getting a tube?

Review- Maybelline The Rocket Volum 'Express Mascara

The hunt for a potential holy grail mascara has lead me to Maybelline The Rocket Volum'Express mascara and to be honest  having tried the disappointing Maybelline Colossal Cat Eye Volum' Express mascara I was a bit hesitant to try another new mascara from the line, nevertheless I bit the bullet and got a tube...

Product features:The packaging describes this mascara as "offering  6 X explosive, clump free volume from root to tip with its patented brush".

Overall Experience: I got the waterproof version  in  "Very Black"  as it would turn out I'm really liking this mascara,as it delivers in terms of volume and length and is virtually clump -free because even after 3 coats my lashes are still pretty defined, elevated, long and full. The large size of the brush literally grabs and coats each individual lash with one application, however the disadvantage of this brush is that its not compatible with my bottom lashes and this is compounded with the fact that an excessive amount of product is present on the brush before application  which requires a bit of cleaning up.In terms of the formula, the wear is fantastic as there is no flaking/bleeding and it stays put  for hours on end which is great for this tropical climate.Overall The Rocket is a great improvement  in comparison to the Colossal Cat Eye  mascara and it's slowly becoming  my favourite.

Have you tried this mascara if so what are your thoughts, if not which mascara is your favorite?

DIY- Celine Inspired T-Shirt

Happy Sunday/Mothers Day loves,

Recently I posted a picture on Facebook of Bajan superstar Rihanna rocking a Celine t-shirt that I have been loving, as you would  have it the cost of said t-shirt surpasses the US$400 mark which is mind blowing, therefore in order to get the look for less  I decided to embark on a DIY project which was easy and  more  importantly budget-friendly.....

Images sourced from Google, collage done by yours truly

The Celine Image was obtained Here
STEPS:
1.Place the logo cut out on magazine or book, the magazine will act as a solid surface for a smooth transfer and will also prevent ink from seeping on the back of the shirt.
2.Place the aforementioned setup  inside of the shirt,(please note the shirt should be thin enough so that the image of logo is visible)
3.Using the thin tip of the helix marker trace the outline of logo, then fill in the letters with the thick tip of the marker.

After taking the price of the shirt and the marker into consideration my overall cost was under JA$600 which  is a far cry from US$400 and although its not perfect  I am pretty pleased with the results, let me know if you would like to see an outfit post featuring this DIY t-shirt.

Bold and Beautiful Lip Ideas

Summer is fast approaching and  while being highlighted and contoured to the gods is all good and fabulous, piling on layers of makeup in the sweltering heat is just not the most practical thing especially here in Jamaica. A bold lip is however the key to adding a bit of interest to those minimal makeup summer days ahead and so here are a few  bold, women of colour (WOC) friendly lip ideas which would be great for the spring and summer season....

Opt for a bright pink lip with MAC's Candy Yum Yum paired  NYX Prune liner

Nothing screams summer better than a orange lip concoction achieved with Jordana's Orange Lipstick applied over muted lips.( see how I mute my lips here)

Try a purple pout with Covergirl LipPerfection in Divine

I  hope you found this post helpful let me know what your favourite bold lip combination is below
