My Nail Polish Picks for Spring

Spring has sprung and with that said  here are my top five nail polish picks for this season,as you can see below I am mostly in love with  light, feminine pastel shades....

From Left to Right
  •  Santee Aquamarine - A gorgeous emerald green colour and in case you don't know emerald green is the Pantone colour for 2013.
  •  Jordana Mint Candy-A cool mint green nail lacquer with a slight hint of shimmer.
  • Jordana Sweet Rose- This matte rose pink shade is universally flattering and can be worn even in the most conservative setting.
  • Colour Club Pucci-licious- A playful pastel purple shade that is sure to get you a lot of compliments.
  • China Glaze No Plain Jane- The holographic trend is red hot this season and if you don't want to commit to an actual holographic piece of clothing or accessory why not settle for this nail polish which is somewhat comparable.

Curly Sue...The Pictorial

Today I am going to share another pictorial on how I get wonderful messy curls  using my 1/2''-1"Remington Curling Wand. This method is simple and very straightforward....

STEP 1; Brush your hair with a paddle brush to remove any knots/tangles.
STEP 2: Apply a light mist of your favourite heat protectant and allow to dry.
STEP 3: Set the curling wand to your desired temperature (my preference is 410 °F since I am rocking extensions).
STEP 4-6:Take a small section of hair and wrap around the barrel of wand and hold for 10-15 seconds.
STEP 7:After 15 seconds you should have a perfect curl.Repeat STEP 4-6 for your entire head and gently finger comb to achieve the volume you desire.

I hope you found this post helpful

Maybelline ColorSensational Vivid lipstick in Brazen Berry

Maybelline Colorsensational Vivids lipstick collection was released a few months and thus I being lipstick lover I decided to give one a try and share my opinion with my lovely readers...

The collection has over 10 shades  inclusive of the typical  pinks and reds that are right on trend for spring and summer. I tend to gravitate towards deeper pink/purple shades and so I went with Brazen Berry which is quite similar to my Covergirl lipstick in Divine. Brazen Berry is a vibrant, bold and extremely pigmented lip colour. This lipstick is smooth and effortless in terms of application and gives an opaque finish with a single swipe.
In my opinion the longevity of this lipstick is dependent on whether you use a lip balm or not, when I applied this lipstick after my lip balm I found that the lipstick didn't last as long, however when I applied Brazen Berry straight out of the tube the colour lasted for hours, therefore I would recommend using this lipstick without a lip balm as it is very moisturizing on its own .The smell is not overwhelming its more on the fruity side but I not really a fan of it.In conclusion if I were to compare this Maybelline Brazen lipstick with my Covergirl Divine lipstick I would say Brazen Berry wins in terms of ease of application and finish whereas Divine wins on the basis of longevity, nevertheless both lipsticks are good dupes for the coveted Heroine lipstick from MAC.

Have you tried any of the Maybelline Colorsensational Vivid lipsticks?

First Date Makeup ( Pictorial)

First dates can always be daunting and while it is imperative to put your best face forward it is more important to look comfortable and effortless. The best first date makeup in my opinion is one  that enhances your natural beauty  not one that appears heavy and contrived as this can be a real turn off for most guys....in other words glowing skin and a wonderful glossy nude pout. I also think that you should highlight your best feature which in my case would be my eyes.Today I am going to be showing you a step by step pictorial on how I achieve the perfect eye makeup for a first date....

Step 1: Start of with a clean canvas.
Step 2: Fill in eyebrows with a dark brown eye pencil for a defined yet natural look.
Step 3: Apply an eye shadow primer (see the benefits of a primer HERE)
Step 4: Blend out primer with ring finger.
Step 5: Using a fluffy blending brush apply a matte brown shade in the space between the eyelid and brow bone this will act as your transitional shade.
Step 6: Apply a copper shade to eyelid with a damp flat shader brush.
Step 7: Blend out the harsh edges with a fluffy blending brush.
Step 8: Use a cream shade to highlight under the brow bone.
Step 9: Sweep the same fluffy brush to seamlessly blend highlight and transitional shade.
Step 10: Highlight the tear duct area with a small detailer  brush.
Step 11: Apply a dark brown shade on the lower lashline with a smudge brush.
Step 12: Use a liquid eye liner to create a winged look then apply your mascara and line your water line ( not pictured) and the eye makeup is complete.

The Best Finishing Powder

Hello Loves,
I shared with you earlier this year my first experience at the MAC store in Sovereign and mentioned that I had picked up MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Deep Dark and  after using it for nearly three months I wanted to share my thoughts on the product....

Shade: Deep Dark

Product Features: MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural is a mineral infused, baked face powder that offers low coverage however it can be either  worn on its own or worn over foundation as a setting/finishing powder. This product comes in a range of shades to compliment a variety of skin tones.
Swatched and Blended

Overall Experience: Let me be the first to say that this product is not cheap as I paid  little over JA$3000, however I have no regrets as each pan contains 10 grams of product and I definitely get value for money. This product does not offer great  coverage and thus if you are blessed with really great skin and don't require a lot of coverage you can get away with wearing this powder on its own, or with a little concealer underneath.Personally I don't use this product for coverage but  instead to set my liquid foundation and this gives my makeup the polished look I desire without the ashy/powdery finish that some powders give. I adore this powder as it gives me a wonderful healthy glow without looking shiny and the coverage can be built up without looking cakey. Being a beauty blogger one would think that I am a product junkie but that's definitely not the case as I tend to stick to products that  are effective and honestly I can't see myself using any other product to set my foundation as the shade is a perfect match and the finish offered  is impeccable and I would definitely recommend it.

Is Mac Mineralize Skinfinish Natural  one of your holy grail products?

Ready fo De Road- Bacchanal Chunky Glitter Nail

Hello Everyone,

This is the final installation in my Bacchanal series, for this post I will be showing you an easy DIY glitter nail look that would be just right for Bacchanal  but would be a bit  over the top for everyday....

China Glaze Nail Polish in Sex in The City
Generic Body Glitter

After applying two coats of the China Glaze polish the following steps were taken:
1.Apply a  generous coat of your favourite clear nail polish.
2.Slowly dust the glitter fragments on nail while nail is still wet and then slightly pat to ensure that glitter is adequately secured.
3.This stage represents the final look as you can see this nail look compliments my bacchanal makeup
