Beauty Tip-Products for Long-lasting Makeup

This time of year as you know is always hectic, company parties, school recitals and a pleuthora of  other engagements, all  requiring you to look your best.In order to look your best your makeup has to have staying power and not look like a bottle of oil exploded on your face, therefore here are a few products that I know will prolong the wear of your makeup for the busy season ahead.

1.Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Primer- The first step in applying your makeup is a primer and we all know what a primer does in that it perfects the skin and provides a smooth canvas for your foundation, so  always apply a pea size amount all over your face concentrating mainly in your T-Zone area.

2.Phillips Milk of Magnesia -This product  although a laxative is one of my holy grail products and is a wonderful for keeping your face virtually oil-free for hours on end.I have written about this product in the past see post HERE and I use it religiously in conjunction with an actual face primer  to achieve optimal results. I strongly believe that Milk of Magnesia is a key product for ladies who have oily skin as it mattifies, allows  your makeup to apply smoothly and keeps it intact and flawless.

3.Black Opal Invisible Oil Blocking Powder-This loose colour free powder has the name suggest cancels out oil without causing your makeup to be cakey, nor does it leave a white cast, if you have minor skin imperfections then this powder can be worn on its own to give a matte look or can be worn as a finishing powder to lock your makeup in place and prevent shine see my review HERE

4.Skindinavia No More Shine Makeup Finish ( Oily Skin Formula)-Lastly after applying your makeup it is important to set your masterpiece and this finishing spray does just that, since it is in the oily skin formula it does keep the oil at bay  for a considerable amount of time and prevents touch ups through the day/night.

I really hope that this post helped you in finding products that will improve the longevity of your makeup especially for this festive season let me know if you have any holy grail products that I need to try.

Nude Lipstick Loving- MAC'S Velvet Teddy

In the makeup department lip products are my favourites as they can easily brighten  a dull face and requires no  skill level to apply, and so  I have added MAC's Velvet Teddy to my nude lipstick collection....

MAC's Velvet Teddy is matte pink based nude lipstick which is apart of the permanent line. This lipstick compliments various skintones especially those on the deeper, richer side of the spectrum.Velvet Teddy although a matte lipstick does not give that dehydrating feeling instead its smooth, creamy and velvety for a lack of a better word.I highly suggest  Velvet Teddy be on your list of MAC lipsticks to own as it is very versatile and can be paired with subdued eye makeup or a daring/bold look, however it is mandatory that a brown lip liner be used in tandem with the lipstick to add some dimension.

I hope you enjoyed this mini review
Do you own MAC's Velvet Teddy let me know below

How to Be A Good Repeat Fashion Offender

We all know what it feels like to be going  through our wardrobes and being quite underwhelmed as everything you have has been worn to death and you  are on a budget or simply don't have the financial means to go on a shopping spree every week or month. In this post I will be showing you how to make an overly worn article of clothing versatile and interesting. This item is a sexy, mustard,"freakum dress" that I have had for years and worn out  numerous times.

Casual Glam -The dress was simply transformed into a top and paired with a trendy camouflage pants with a draw string detailing, the animal print heels were added for a bit of contrast.

Rocker Chic- MDIY Celine top was paired with the dress that was transformed into a skirt, ankle booties and my beloved ASOS belt were added for an edgy vibe. This ensemble could be further amped up by adding a leather jacket and black tights and would be the perfect winter outfit.

The Sophisticate-With this ensemble I was going for a more demure and polished look that would be appropriate for a corporate setting, a business luncheon/cocktail party.

Which ensemble was your favourite and what are your thoughts on being a repeat fashion offender?

Camo Chic -My Way

In my last post I shared how to style the camouflage trend in a classy manner, in today's entry I thought I would share my personal take on the trend. I was going for a more girly/flirty look that would be prefect for brunch or any other similar event.I paired my camouflage skirt with a sheer yellow top and then complimented this with a purple cardigan, then to balance out the vibrant colours I kept the accessories simple and neutral.

Lipsticks to Fall For

In the tropics its seems like its forever summer, but lets face it the fashion season has changed, and what better way to welcome this change than with makeup, in particular lipstick. It is now time to whip out those deep, dark lipstick shades and if you are just getting into makeup and need a little inspiration  here are my lipstick picks

From Left to Right MAC RiRi Woo, KleanColor Femme Lipstick in Purple Machine, Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Grape

(Applied without lip liner,  Purple machine is actually purple but photographs blue)

If the original colors aren't deep enough for your taste a simple trick I have employed is the addition of black liner  and this completely  vamps up the  overall finish of each of the lipsticks....

    RESULTS

What  shade was your favourite and do you prefer the lipsticks pre or post black liner?

Hair Care Hero-Cantu Shea Butter Leave in Conditioning Cream

After making a conscious effort  to stretch the time in between my relaxers I wanted to find products that would make the process easier and tame my new growth, while reducing breakage and the occurrence of split ends. The product I found that really does wonders and is now in my hair care arsenal is the Cantu Shea Butter Leave in Conditioning Repair Cream.

Product Features:The Cantu Shea Butter Leave in conditioning cream as the name suggests is a Shea butter based moisturizing treatment that is targeted towards halting/repairing breakage and split ends, while overall adding moisture and protecting hair.

Overall Experience:I have been using this conditioning treatment  for over two months and I would  recommend it to anyone who suffers from breakage, dryness and is actively trying to achieve soft, healthy hair. My reasons for loving this product  are extensive but I will share just few.The product has a dual function that of a leave- in conditioner and also daily moisturizer, therefore it  is cost effective and cuts down on clutter, the smell is also a bonus in my opinion very light and not overbearing. The hydrating properties of this treatment is excellent for new growth which can be challenging at times, however due to the thick, creamy nature of this product I do suggest for daily  use  the amount in the collage above or less is more than sufficient  for  roots and ends. This is to  prevent your hair from being weighed down.In conclusion I am glad I have found this product and it has assisted greatly in the overall health of my hair.

Do you have a hair care staple if so share it in the comments below.

Kelly Rowland's Performance at CFW 2013

This is the final post on Caribbean Fashion week 2013, as I mentioned Kelly Rowland was the headlining act for the second night, and  as a Destiny's Child fan  I was extremely excited but a bit disappointed as I was expecting her to be ultra glamorous but as you can see from the pictures below she casually styled a leather overall and what appeared to be combat boots and although the 90's inspired overall is trendy right now I felt that she didn't give me the  "get yo life "glam factor I needed. In addition to this  the length of performance was just too short...maybe a bit over fifteen minutes, maybe I'm exaggerating, aside from this she gave us a medley of some the DC chart topping hits  we loved and  her hit songs as a solo artiste.....

Here is the footage that  I uploaded to my under construction Youtube channel

*The instability of the footage in some areas was due to me dancing*

Floral Accents

Last night I attended the second installation of Caribbean Fashion week 2013, my outfit choice was a slight  adaptation of my prior Monochromatic inspiration post  and also includes  floral print which is one of the biggest trends of 2013.....

I decided to pair my floral panel skirt with my lace bodysuit which also has floral detailing upon close inspection, to make the look cohesive I picked the mustard colour from the skirt and wore a matching pair of pointed toe pumps, then I threw on the blazer as I knew that the venue would be cold, however the outfit could stand alone as seen below....

Blazer - Urban Behavior
Skirt- Forever 21
Belt- Asos

Monochromatic Nature

Monochromatic

CFW 2013 is just days and if you do plan to attend the event but have no idea of what to wear then the above collage serves as great inspiration .An all  black outfit is the easiest way to go when one is clueless , the trick however is to play with different elements to add interest .The above outfit has an infusion of current trends such as peplum, leather and lace, although its very simple its classic and timeless and would be perfected with a bold red pout and a high bun or side swept hair.

Would you rock this look
