Glamorous Holiday Hair...

Hey loves,

In this post I will be sharing how to achieve gorgeous curls/waves for the holidays.  I did this look on a U-part wig that I made and honestly I am  starting to love this idea over clip-in extensions as it requires less effort and time to install.

Step 1- Spray hair with heat protectant and allow to dry to minimize heat damage

Step 2- Brush your hair using a paddle brush to ensure that your hair is tangle-free and smooth.

Step 3- Wrap medium size portions  of hair around the curling wand in a backward motion to create waves away from your face, after you have curled your  hair in its entirety finger comb to achieve your desired degree of waviness, personally I don't use any product on my extensions but if you desire you can add your favourite finishing hair spray.

I hope this post was helpful and I trust everyone is enjoying the festive season

TARTAN TALES....

Images sourced from google

Tartan fashion is currently one of the  top trends for this season, I  personally prefer accents of tartan in the form of accessories, however the talented Emma Watson manages to immaculately style this Alexander McQueen tartan dress in a manner which I love.

Do you love or loathe the tartan trend?

Foxy's Favourite Foundation Brush....

ELF products are by far some of the most affordable and effective products,  my absolute favourite product from this cosmetics  line happens to be the Elf Powder brush....

The Elf Powder Brush  is a sturdy, densely packed brush with  extremely soft bristles. I primarily use this brush to apply my foundation and it does so seamlessly, it buffs the foundation perfectly into my skin to the point where it gives me  a slightly airbrushed look.Another great aspect of this brush is that there is minimal shedding however, on the flip side the  disadvantage is that due to dense nature of the brush it takes some effort and time to clean , nevertheless this tool is a staple in my makeup routine.

Do you have a favourite foundation brush?

Hair Inspiration- Red Cherry Bomb

Images from Google

I have  developed quite a love for  luscious red locks, this hair colour can be customized for any complexion, however colouring my natural hair is simply out the question since I work in a rather conservative environment but I think will experiment with this colour on some extensions.

What are your thoughts love or loathe?

Soft and Subtle Highlighting ....

Today I am sharing a FOTD using the  Ben Nye Banana Powder in my routine, I use this powder primarily under my eyes and on the bridge of my nose to set my concealer, it is applied with a wedge sponge in a patting motion, then  a clean powder brush is used to sweep away  the excess powder ,my face is then slightly contoured ,  face powder applied all over with a powder puff then I'm done....

BEN NYE BANANA LUXURY POWDER

I would have to say that highlighting and contouring is my favourite area in makeup artistry. The Ben Nye Banana Luxury Powder  has become one of the  premier setting powders to get the highlighted Kim Kardashian-esque look. I ordered  the Ben Nye powder in the 1.5oz container on makeupmania and as you would have it they were out of stock so there was some wait time... seems like everyone is now on the Ben Nye Bandwagon

Heavily swatched left and lightly blended on right

I have to say its extremely good for setting undereye concealer as it is finely milled and smooth,  since it has  yellow tint you are not left with the white cast that everyone hates. In comparison to my Black Opal Oil blocking powder which I still use, I would have to say that Black opal is great for all  over setting and excellent for mattifying the face but the Ben Nye is better in my opinion  for highlighting purposes as it offers more of a brightening effect than the Black Opal.

Are you also a fan of the Ben Nye Banana Powder?

ELF HD Blush in Encore

I am girl who always loves a good deal even more so when the product is of high quality, recently I obtained one of the new  ELF HD blush in Encore  and so here is my two cents on this product....

Product Features: The packaging describes the HD blush as having a  rich pigmented colour for a soft focus effect with a vitamin enriched formula that hydrates the skin.

Overall Experience:  I love the fact that the ELF HD blush has a pump dispenser therefore this helps control the amount of product used and also the fact that the product has the right consistency not too runny or excessively thick. It applies smoothly, highly pigmented as you can see from the above swatch a small drop goes a long way and the finish is smooth and truly long lasting. This blush would be greatly appreciated by ladies with normal to dry skin as it is very moisturising .This product is definitely a good purchase as the quality is superb for the price.Stay tuned for a makeup look featuring this ELF HD blush in Encore

Have your tried this ELF product if so what do you think?

My Guide to the Perfect Nude Lip for WOC

If you're a devoted reader of my blog you would know that I love a good  nude lip simply because its so soft, youthful and beautiful, being a chocolate-coloured Caribbean girl I have been blessed with pigmented lips and as such I have employed the following method to give me the perfect nude lip. This method is by no means a novice idea , but this is how I personally do it , the aim is not to look like Tyrone Biggums from the Chappelle Show but to have a smooth transition in colour from your skin to your lipstick.

Products Used
Clockwise Direction: Blistex Lip Medex, Milani Secret Cover Concealer , NYX Lip Pencil in Cappuccino, NYX Lipstick in Frappuccino

Lip pencil and Lipstick Snapshots

Steps:
1. I apply a generous amount of my Blistex lip balm, which I  love and  use  religiously because its very moisturizing and has a cooling sensation on the lips.
2. The Milani Secret Cover Concealer in Honey   is then used to mute the natural colour of my lips and to facilitate the true colour of the  lipstick coming through, followed by the  NYX lip pencil in Cappuccino  to add  dimension back to my lips
3. NYX  Frappuccino a flattering pinkish- nude lipstick is applied and the look is complete

I had placed a small order on the MakeupMania website  after hearing rave reviews within the beauty community  about the sheer awesomeness of  La Femme Blushes and I had to give them a try and  now I'm a bonafide La Femme blush fanatic.I selected shades that were WOC friendly....

CoverGirl LipPerfection Lip Colour -Divine

I have always wanted to get M.A.C Heroine lipstick that was launched with the  Reel Sexy Collection, but unfortunately  it was a limited edition , while browsing online I realized that a few  lipsticks were mentioned  as possible dupes for the gorgeous purple hued Heroine, the most talked about dupe of them  all was Covergirl's LipPerfection in Divine #330. The lipstick is a vibrant pinkish- purple shade with a creamy, long lasting finish to the point where it stains your lips and will require a little work to completely remove it.

After viewing numerous  FOTD posts featuring Divine I have come to the realization that this shade of purple is universally flattering  and  I'm absolutely smitten  to point where I feel the need to get a few extra tubes just in case they decide to discontinue it, so ladies I highly suggest if you're on the hunt for a purple lippie then Covergirl's Divine is the best option.

Stay tuned for a makeup look featuring Covergirl's Divine

Dark Bold Lips....

Dark, vampy lip shades are very  trendy this season and would  be excellent, wearable options  for Halloween parties, here I share my take on this trend by sporting a dark plum lip colour with understated eyes. The star of this show is Jordana Easyshine glossy lip colour in Sugar Plum  which is very moisturizing and equally pigmented . My  makeup routine is pretty much the same as here  with the  exception being the blush (ELF Berry Merry) and   eye makeup.

I hope you guys liked this post

Maybelline Colossal Cat Eye Volum' Express mascara

Some time ago I picked up the Maybelline Colossal Cat Eye Volum'  Express waterproof mascara in glam black and after giving it a try here are my thoughts...

Product Features: The packaging describes this mascara as having a" collagen  formula and a claw brush which  plump and  spike out lashes at the corner for the  wild cat eye look."

Overall Experience: This mascara is fairly  good but I don't think it matches up  to my Maybelline Falsies Flared. It does however  offer some amount of volume, captures the lashes at the corners to an extent but doesn't give the "spiked effect" like the packaging suggested. It  is also excellent for  bottom lashes due to small size of the wand.I thought my lashes would be more defined and separated but I guess my expectations were too high. In closing this mascara will not be my go-to product of choice and I will be sticking to my Maybelline Falsies Flared mascara .

Have you girls tried this mascara, if so what are your thoughts?

Review- Black Opal Invisible Oil Blocking Powder

Hello Lovelies,

I have oily, acne-prone skin and thus I  have always been on the hunt for a good oil control/setting  powder.After doing some research I decided to give the Black Opal Invisible Oil Blocking  Powder a go and I have to admit that this product is pretty good in my opinion....

Product Features: The Black Opal Invisible Oil Blocking Powder as the name suggests is " a colour- free powder which controls oil, prevents shine and keeps skin matte without drying or changing your foundation shade."

Overall Experience: I love this product hands down, the fact that although its an invisible powder its  not flat white... it has  some amount of  pigmentation and it blends beautifully into my skin without  giving that chalky,  "cast- like"  finish.I utilize this product in two ways, first to set the concealer under my eyes  and other areas of my face which I have highlighted and secondly to set my entire makeup. The powder is a keeper in my eyes because you can apply it numerous times and there is no product buildup it just simply mattifies my face without altering my makeup. In terms of oil control it gets a passing grade in my book as  it does keep shine at bay for a good period of time. The only negative thing I have to say about this product is that its so messy.... but isn't that the case with all loose powders so this aspect can be overlooked. In conclusion the Black Opal powder is an excellent product and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking into purchasing a oil control/setting powder.

Hey Ladies,

I promised from my previous post to share a makeup look with M.A.C Scarlet Ibis from the Marilyn Munroe Collection. M.A.C Marilyn Monroe Collection 2012 -Scarlet Ibis

Hey Everyone,

I recently was able to get my hands on a lipstick from the much coveted M.A.C Marilyn Monroe Collection. The shade I received  was Scarlet Ibis.

The Scarlet Ibis is a bright orange- red matte shade, which I think would be perfect for  ladies of a lighter complexion however, women of colour ( WOC) can rock this shade by simply applying a really good brown,  burgundy or dark red liner.

* NYX Lip liner in Cabaret used

Stay tuned for a makeup look featuring this lipstick.
